Celebrity Skating Party a Big Hit!

By Claudette Larocque, Marketing Director

As part of the ATCO Edmonton Sun Christmas Charity Auction, DRIVING FORCE sponsored a celebrity skating party with Jamie Sale and Craig Simpson for 20 people on Boxing Day at Servus Place in St. Albert, Alberta.

The skating party was purchased by Ray Parkin from Provost, which is located 3 hours south-east of Edmonton. The group included boys, girls and hockey coaches. Craig ran the boys through some hockey drills, while Jamie skated with the girls. They played games such as tag, red light green light and then got to see the miniature Stanley Cups and the Stanley Cup ring that Craig brought.

The group also received autographs from the celebrity skaters and a chance to hold Jamie’s Olympic gold medal. The skate was followed by hot chocolate and snacks and topped off with some of Jamie’s Christmas baking.

The Boxing Day celebrity skating party raised $1,100 for the ATCO Edmonton Sun Christmas Charity Auction, which gave funds to the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton, Catholic Social Services Sign of Hope, the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and United Way.

Leasing vs. Buying a Vehicle

By Lori Thexton, Lease Manager

Oh the age old question: to lease or not to lease? Today’s consumers are often unsure whether leasing or buying a vehicle is their best vehicle financing option, and with good reason, as there is no universal answer. The truth is, whether you should lease or buy a car, truck, SUV or van really comes down to your individual wants and needs.

Do you like to drive a new vehicle every few years, not want to worry about any major repairs or maintenance expenses and enjoy lower monthly payments? Vehicle leasing may be your best option.

On the other hand, if you travel extensively and prefer to pay off your vehicle and enjoy it for a long period of time, buying a car is most likely the right choice for you.
